Fifteenth Court opinion addresses Business Court jurisdiction

The Fifteenth Court of Appeals recently addressed whether the Business Court's jurisdiction included cases filed before September 1, 2024 but removed after that date.
In its opinion denying mandamus review of the Eighth Division's decision to remand back to the local district court, a unanimous court held removal to the business court does not “commence” a new civil action but simply transfers an existing one. Thus, the business court did not err in remanding the case.
